Our first journey!

We finally got to take a weekend jaunt with the new RV! We had it planned for Chris’ birthday, and the plan was to stay close to home so we could have some relatives (local) come for a little birthday get together. Since it was Chris’s 50th, I wanted it to be special. We invited our friends, Rodney and Nancy Paradise to come over from Parrish, FL.

The forecast was for rain on Friday and Saturday, and we wavered back and forth between going and staying home. We made a reservation right on the beach at Beverly Beach Camptown RV Resort, near Flagler Beach, Fl. Just a few miles from home.

We were so eager to take the rig out that we decided to go even with the potential bad weather. We both took the day off Friday, and so did Rodney and Nancy.

The weather held Friday, although it was really cloudy, but the rain stayed away. We heading to the campground around noon and eagerly started getting it set up. First obstacle….our sewer hose was 10 feet and the hookup was about 20 feet away. So Chris headed over to Walmart to see if he could find a 20 footer. In the meantime, i got things put away.

Nancy and Rodney got there about 3ish. We showed them around and had a few brews. Then i made dinner. After dinner we went outside for a while and watched the beach action. Then we played cards for a while.

Not the best day for a sail!

Saturday was still grey. We went out to breakfast at the Oceanside Grill. Then Rodney and Chris went to play golf and Nancy and I ran some errands. Nancy and I ran some errands. When we got back, our friend Leona came by to visit. It started pouring and  the guys we just on the 13th hole…When the lightning started, they thought better about finishing their game and headed home.

It rained hard for a few hours, then the sun came out around 3:30. It was pretty windy but at least it was sunny! We sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine for a while. Then dinner and cards.

Finally the sun came out!

Sunday, Nancy and Rodney left early to head to Miami to visit their son. Of course it was a beautiful, sunny warm day and checkout time was noon. We headed out right at Noon on the dot.

We got home and Chris washed the RV. Then his uncle, aunt and cousin came over to celebrate his birthday and have cake.

All in all, we had a great time! Can’t wait to do it again!

Finally…we picked up the RV today!

Well…talk about dreams coming true! One big dream of ours…getting an RV and hitting the road…has begun to take shape. We can’t hit the road yet but we got the RV and we’ll spend the next year or two getting it all decked out the way we want it. We had new floors put in this week before we took delivery, and the dealer put in a new main awning.

Unfortunately, it will be a few weeks before we can actually take it on our first camping trip. But we will spend those next few weeks loading her up and stocking her so we’ll be ready to go!

I followed Chris home with the car. We still need to get a tow hitch for my jeep. He did really well! When we got back to the storage lot, his Uncle Ron and Aunt Carol came over to check it out. We sat and chatted for a while and I didn’t want to leave it!

Here’s some pictures showing the new flooring. Not great pictures, though. I’ll try to take more tomorrow without the bright glare.

Still waiting…

We are still waiting to take delivery of the coach. It is getting a new awning (on the dealer) and new flooring (on us). We are going with carpet in the cab and on the slide, and vinyl snap-lock flooring that looks like marble. Our salesman at the dealer sent Chris a couple of pics today.  I think we’ll be able to pick it up Saturday. We can’t wait to get started! We are planning our first outing with it…I think we’ll go north towards Savannah so our son, Donnie and granddaughter, Zoe, can join us for a weekend.

And so starts the dream!

Our New (to us) RV…Our future home …

After months of searching we finally chose this 2005 Pace Arrow 37c. We’ll take delivery in a week or so after the awning is replaced and the old carpet is removed and is replaced with a nice vinyl tile-look flooring. Now we just have to plan our first weekend adventure!
